What Is Laser Edge Banding?

To put it simply, laser edge banding is the melting of edge banding with special photoactive substances by laser, without the need for hot melt adhesive to achieve a better seamless connection between the edge banding tape and the sheet.

Laser edge banding has a two-layer structure, the surface layer is an ordinary edge banding tape, a kind of edge banding with a polymer functional layer, the polymer functional layer is quickly melted and disappeared by laser irradiation to absorb energy, and at the same time, under the action of edge banding pressure roller pressure, the molten polymer penetrates the surface of the plate to form high adhesion, so that the edge banding and the plate achieve a better seamless connection. Moreover, the polymer fills the gap between the sheet and the edging tape, so that there will be no glue overflow, and the joint is more beautiful.
