Swedish Timber Prices Rise Significantly

The latest data from the Swedish Forestry Agency show that as of the end of the first quarter of 2024, Sweden's softwood sawn timber stocks increased by 10% compared with the same quarter last year, totaling 3.2 million cubic meters, but Sweden's total timber stocks fell by 3% to 8.3 million cubic meters.
According to data, wood prices in Sweden rose significantly in the first quarter, with sawnwood prices rising by 8% and pulpwood prices rising by 3%.
The data also shows that in the first quarter, Sweden's timber export trade volume to China fell by 44.48% year-on-year to US$37.56 million; compared with the same period in 2023, the export volume fell by 43.86% to 189,300 cubic meters, and the average import unit price was US$198/cubic meter.
