It is best to use hot melt adhesive film for cracking of solid wood door edge banding. It is a film with or without release liner and can be easily operated continuously or intermittently. It is generally used for the bonding of various fabrics, papers, polymer materials and metals.
When using hot melt film edge banding, the adhesive side of the adhesive film should be laid down on the edge of the paint-free board, and then ironed with an iron so that the adhesive film can be attached to the edge of the board, and then the release paper on the back should be torn off and the adhesive film should be left on the paint-free board.
Next, the edge banding strip of the paint-free board is attached to the adhesive film and ironed with an electric iron with a temperature of less than 140 degrees. Finally, let it cool naturally before trimming, in order to make the board surface not harmed, pay attention to the planing surface and the board surface at a 20-degree angle when trimming.
There is another way to do it simply, you may want to try:
You can first cut the old books and newspapers into crumbs, add an appropriate amount of alum, boil them with water into a paste, and embed them in the edge sealing strip of the solid wood door, which can be very firm after drying. Or you can also use white glue to mix wood chips evenly and embed cracks, wait for a day and night and then polish them with sandpaper, which is simple and economical. If the gap is small, you can take wood as thin as chopsticks, sharpen the tip and coat it with white glue and stuff it in the gap.
In addition, regular maintenance of the edge banding strip should be carried out. For example, candle oil can be ironed to allow the oil to penetrate into the wood, which can reduce the wear and tear of solid wood edge banding.
