ABS is an impact resistant, mechanically and thermally stable and high grade thermoplastic. For the last 20 years, this chlorine-free plastic has been used successfully in the furniture industry. The successful processing properties of ABS have found a place in furniture production in large markets, especially in Central & Northern Europe, Japan and Australia. Considering its disposal characteristics, ABS Edgebanding is considered eco friendly.
WHY ABS EDGE BANDING?
The ABS material has high hardness, toughness, impact resistance, and good temperature resistance. It needs to be above 90 degrees to soften. ABS has no irritating smell, and it will not shrink and expand excessively due to large temperature differences. The ABS material is not filled with auxiliary materials, and it is environmentally friendly, the trimming of the edge strip is the same color as the inside, and the trimming is smooth and bright. The ABS material is also resistant to chemical substances, and it will be new for a long time. Coffee, soy sauce, alcohol, etc. will not cause any damage to the surface. ABS surface With anti-wear layer, good scratch resistance, not easy to fade, anti-cleaner and easy to clean. Generally, in order to achieve the ultimate in details, high-end factories will use ABS edge banding.
HOW TO INSTALL ABS EDGE BANDING?
Manual Installation: This method involves manually applying the edge banding to the edge of the material using an edgebanding glue and a heat gun. The ABS edge banding is cut to the length of the edges, and the glue is applied to both the edge of the material and the back of the edge banding. The edge banding is then placed onto the edge of the material and secured with a heat gun, which activates the glue and bonds the edge banding to the material.
Using Machine: cHAOTAI ABS Edge Banding can be efficiently processed on conventional edge banding machines utilizing hot-melt adhesive systems, as well as on automated machining centers. The individual processing steps, including gluing, trimming, milling, scraping, and buffing, are straightforward and uncomplicated. The primer coating applied to ABS Edge Banding is specifically formulated with jOWAT glue. In situations where the product may be subject to high temperatures, such as in kitchen environments or during furniture shipping, it is advisable to utilize adhesives with exceptional heat resistance. For areas with high humidity, polyurethane hot-melt adhesives are particularly well-suited.
