Edge banding usage

Since wood is a hygroscopic material, its moisture content will change due to the influence of external temperature and humidity, so the choice of adhesive should be based on the change of seasons and the diffusion and penetration requirements of moisture.

Only by mastering the selection of adhesive types can the edge banding strip and the board form a good "rivet fixing effect" through the penetration of wood fibers. In addition, furniture decorated with wooden edging must be painted with surface paint.

PVC edge banding strip is mainly suitable for edge banding of micro standers, MDF, blockboards, plywood, and solid wood edge banding. When practical, it can be completed by manual pasting and mechanical pasting, but it is mainly mechanical pasting, which can improve work efficiency. The adhesive for pasting PVC edge banding strips is all-purpose glue, hot-melt adhesive and white latex, but hot-melt adhesive is better. Through the action of mechanical interlocking, physical attraction and chemical bonds, the PVC edge banding strip is firmly adhered to the surface of the wood board, so the straightness of the substrate edge profile is very high when pasting, the general tolerance shall not be greater than 0.1mm, and the temperature of the board and the ambient temperature of the pasting work should be 18 °C. The curing time of hot melt adhesive is generally 30 minutes, but the selection of low-temperature adhesive or high-temperature adhesive should be determined according to the thickness of the edge banding.

The scope of application of melamine edge banding is basically similar to that of PVC edge banding. However, it is better to seal the edge of the fireproof board. In the operation, manual and mechanical edge banding are OK; the requirements for adhesives such as hot melt adhesive, universal glue, white latex and so on are not high; the adhesive can be arbitrarily selected in the market by using flat paste and roller paste; the melting control temperature is 120 °C ~ 160 °C when using hot melt adhesive as the adhesive, the pressure is 4-6/2, the curing time is 20 ~ 50 seconds, and the ambient temperature is 15 °C when the indoor paste is used. In view of the strong permeability of melamine edge banding to hot-melt adhesive and all-purpose adhesive than PVC, the amount of glue should be reduced when pasting with the board, which is generally controlled in the range of 6-8g/linear meter. In mechanical edge banding, the visual effect is that the adhesive layer is evenly coated and the mesh is clear; the running speed of mechanical gluing is 30~50 m/min, and the running speed of edge banding paste is fast when all kinds of edge banding strips are sealed, which can not only ensure the quality of pasting, but also improve work efficiency, which is quite powerful.

No matter what type of edge banding strip needs to be perfectly matched with the glue during use, so it is particularly important to choose what kind of glue. But the quality of the edge banding is also crucial.
